First photo “find” for the Mountaintown “Turtle Patrol!”

Some of our neighbors have offered to help us to watch for the box turtles that we’re monitoring. This Tuesday, Bob and Marti Burgess chanced upon “Kevin,” the box turtle that makes the Burgesses’ backyard part of its home range.

We’re going to check their photos against the photo catalog of turtles that we’ve found so far. We’re almost certain “Kevin” will be a “recap,” or a turtle that we’ve encountered. This “recap” information aids us in working out the sizes of local turtles’ home ranges as well as their health. Good job, Bob and Marti!

Thanks Jim and Dawn for making this possible! This is my first time on a blog and I am so excited to be participating and learning.
